A11y stands for Accessibility through Computing. A11y is geekspeek by retaining the first and last letters of the word accessibility and replacing the middle 11 letters with 11. Thus A11Y (a-eleven-y)

In short, Planet Accessibility an RSS feed aggregator collecting the posts of bloggers and sites submitted by their owners. While feed submissions must be approved by the Planet Accessibility team, there are no hard and fast rules for eligibility with one exception. Bloggers must be active contributors to a11y and post relevant a11y articles from time to time.

Planet Accessibility was born out of a conversation during a meeting of the GNOME Foundation A11y Team, where we realized we needed to keep better tabs of what everyone was doing in their respective activities with respect to a11y.

But we did not want to restrict ourselves only to our fellow GNOME bloggers. We wanted a place were we all can share and exchange information in one place, across all boundaries, whether it be desktop environment, operating system or ideologies. And we wanted a place where people not involved in a11y could come to learn about what's happening in the world of Accessibility.

Thus is Planet Accessibility, a home for us all...
